Before and After Baby Boost

index_clip_image010.jpgWhen you get pregnant and during the postpartum period, you want to know you are covering your supplement bases. This doesn’t mean your world will be saved if you are eating junk and not getting enough sleep, but pre and postnatal supplements can give you a boost  and actually help to ward off all sorts of health problems later on in your life. During this remarkable period which according to Chinese medicine can actually become a time to make yourself “even more beautiful from the inside and out” it is worth investing in a great multi-vit, a steady trusted supply of Omega 3s and a fine source of calcium and magnesium.

Amazingly, excluding the good people of Sound Formulas, there isn’t one other company I have found that really addresses all of these needs, and that is why I really believe they have created the greatest pre and post natal supplements on the market today. Below I have listed some of the key reasons why their products are superior and absolutely worth taking during these months and years.

1.  So many of the prenatal vitamins on the market contain poor quality, synthetic forms of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Examples of this are the synthetic form of B12 which can harden your liver and cheap calcium carbonate (as opposed to Citrate) which is so essential for bone development and replenishing your stores of calcium.

2. Not strong enough - Many of the supplements on the market today short change you on the good stuff. An example of this is folic acid - you should be getting 800mcg and most prenatals contain 400mcg.

3. Difficult to digest - Most of them are highly compressed and covered with wax which are extremely difficult for your body to assimilate. Capsules are the way to go.

4. What about some EFAs - Why are none of the prenatal supplement programs also offering you a reliable and safe amount of Omega-3s — so essential for your baby’s nervous system and your wellbeing? New mothers are especially depleted in DHA after childbirth, which may explain why they sometimes feel “foggy headed” or “emotionally down.” Proper supplementation of these good anti-inflammatory oils in the form of DHA and EPA is beneficial for brain building, mental function, and restoring beneficial moods.

5. Combining calcium and iron -  Ideally you should be taking your iron in the morning and your calcium at night. Otherwise the calcium binds to the iron and cancels it out. Not great for you or baby.

 6. A little extra - What about getting some nutrients like C0Q10 and alpha lipoic acid which are so essential to producing energy in our cells (also known the Citric Acid Cycle). Without these crucial nutrients the Citric Acid Cycle does not function properly and the body only produces two units of ATP energy per cycle instead of 36! These powerhouse nutrients are expensive and rarely included in prenatal vitamins.

 7. Customized nutrition - Most prenatals don’t take your very special situation into consideration ie. Special natural ingredients to help calm the stomach and ginger root extract to help with morning sickness.

Sound Formula’s Before and After Baby Boost are the most advanced supplements on the market that were developed to really support a woman during this physically and emotionally challenging period. I can only speak from personal experience… I felt wonderfully calm and did not experience mood swings, I was not exhausted, my body recovered quickly, I have not had food cravings, I have nearly lost all my weight (I am writing this 3.5 months postpartum), I did not experience fogginess and I slept well at night.

Another woman wrote: “I heard about Dr. Raffelock’s Before Baby Boost products and I wanted to try it right away. I was concerned after learning about all the short cuts many of the prenatal vitamin companies are taking. But since I’m in my second trimester, I didn’t know how much of a difference it would make. Well, after just one week, I’m amazed at how much more energy I have and how much better I’m sleeping. Also, I haven’t craved chocolate ice cream once and I was craving it every hour. I wish I’d had this stuff three months ago! I’m recommending it to all of my pregnant friends!”—Michelle Walbright, Arvada, CO

The good people at Sound Formulas, who also wrote the book, A Natural Guide to Pregnancy and Postpartum Health, are so convinced about their product (including me), they are offering a full money exchange if you are not happy. But I don’t think you will be disappointed. These guys are the real deal.
